Current State of the Market

-Grant Hollingsworth

In the time I’ve been away, the automotive market has gone through vast change. We’ve seen the fall and rise of GM, broad implementation of hybrid/electric technologies, the start of the modern pony car wars (although at this time…..that’s kind of a one-sided, uninteresting affair), and the legitimization of Korean brands. The market has become exponentially more interesting over the past 6 months, and this is the primary reason I’m back to write about it for your pleasure.

This is a time for radical modernization. What’s makes this so exciting is the fact that every manufacturer will be forced to follow this trend, lest they be left behind and forgotten (not unlike the strategy that led GM to bankruptcy). Almost every manufacturer is hiring, designing and releasing new models, and shaping new technologies and manufacturing methods. This is the time to find an interest in cars. This is the time to be an auto geek.
